This week marks the start of SIUE’S annual Springfest, which runs through April 23rd and features a Student Organization Fair, a Lip Sync Competition, a 5K Run, an SNL comedian, Woody Hall’s “Woodstock” Festival, and even an eccentric pairing: a FREE banana split – in a canoe of course!
The fun-filled event, put on by the Campus Activities Board, is highlighted by two days of the Student Organization Fair which takes place on Stratton Quadrangle from 11am-2pm on April 20th and 21st. Campus organizations will be selling baked goods, handing out literature, and even sponsoring free giveaways for students interested in learning more about their activities. The canoe-banana splits are available starting at 12pm on the 20th, and on the 21st a Lip Sync Battle between student groups kicks off at noon. They’ll also be games, prizes, and music by artist Rebecca Moreland on both days of the fair.
Springfest’s 2nd annual 5K “Glow” Run takes place at 8pm on the 20th. This fun-run starts at The RecPlex and winds through a glow-in-the-dark course complete with courtesy glow-in-the-dark wristbands and glasses. A limited number of t-shirts are available for SIUE students, and you can register here up until race time to be part of this “enlightening” race.
The festival culminates in two memorable affairs: First, on the 21st, SNL comedian Jay Pharoah performs his unforgettable brand of impressionist comedy at the Meridian Ballroom at 7:30pm. Tickets are available for only $10 at the Morris University Center. Then on Saturday the 23rd, get ready for an end-of-year celebration with free music, food, and games from 1-4pm at the Woodland Bowl.
