Halloween events don’t always have to be filled with blood-curdling frights to be fun. One of the most beloved Halloween events near Southern Illinois University combines the magic of Halloween with a good old-fashioned American favorite–a parade. Downtown Edwardsville comes alive each year on Halloween night with the Annual Halloween Parade.
The 2016 Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce Halloween Parade kicks off on Halloween night at 6:30 pm. This year’s incredibly fun theme is “TV Classics”, so you’ll be sure to see some of the country’s most memorable and beloved TV icons throughout the evening. Each year, the Halloween Parade is brimming with dazzling floats, fantastic marching bands, amazing entertainers, as well as a variety of school groups and community organizations that work hard to provide citizens with wonderful, enriching events all year round.
The parade begins at the Lincoln Middle School parking lot at Schwartz & West Streets, travels east on St. Louis to Vandalia Street, continues on North Main Street, and ends on High Street. Parking is available at the super lot on East Main Street and on side streets, and handicapped parking is available at Jerry’s Tire Sales lot. Portable bathrooms are located at Walgreens, First Clover Leaf Bank, and Big Daddy’s.
The Halloween Parade has never been cancelled due to weather, but there have been delays in the past. If the parade is cancelled, there is no rain date. In case of poor weather, the Chamber of Commerce will make an announcement regarding delays or cancellations by 5:30 pm that evening.

Haunted Laser Tag is a fantastic twist on Edison’s exciting laser tag arena. The arena is currently decorated for Halloween with an array of frightening creatures, animated ghosts, and sticky cobwebs. However, Edison’s has an extra special treat in addition to these chilling decorations. Every Friday & Saturday night from September 30 – October 30, the “Haunted Quest” comes to life as live zombies, monsters, and all sorts of creatures of the night lurk in the fog, just waiting to scare the living daylights out of you. Basically, you’ll be entering a haunted house armed with nothing but your wits and a laser gun. The “Haunted Quest” runs from 8pm – 11pm. Regular admission prices apply.
Edison’s Entertainment Complex offers many exciting activities and special events throughout the year, and it’s a great place to go for late night entertainment. Edison’s boasts bowling lanes with 10-foot tall projection screens showing the best sports games and programs, the thrilling laser tag arena, and an arcade with a variety of 55 intriguing games.
