Have Fun With Your Dog Near Luxury Student Living

Ever want to take your dog for a walk or a run near Luxury Student Living? This is not a problem in Edwardsville. You need to have your dog on a leash on city streets, according to municipal law. However, the city also offers a dog run at Joe Glik Park that allows Mitzi or Pooch to be off-leash as well. Joe Glik Park in total is more than 42 acres of lovely property on East Lake Drive. In addition to the dog run, it sports 2500 feet of walking, biking, skating trails, two fishing lakes, concrete fishing deck, picnic pavilions, a comfort station, playground, sand volleyball courts, and areas for open play.

The city does not require dog permits to use the dog area in the park. The park is open from dawn to dusk year around.

If you want another place to frolic, walk, and run with Mitzi or Pooch, the Madison County Transit Goshen (MCT Goshen) Trail is just minutes away. The MCT Goshen Trail is one of the former railroad beds that have been transformed into trails by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. (There are more than 1,600 of these trails nationwide.) Because of their former use as railroads, they are both scenic and maintained, and offer a great place for dogs! And of course no permits are needed here either.

How to get there – you need to be on I-55. From there, take Exit 18 to Illinois Route 162 West. Drive 1 mile and turn right onto Old Troy Road. Parking will be 500 feet ahead, on the right.

With AXIS Edwardsville Luxury Student Living being pet friendly, having dog friendly parks so close by is a great convenience. Are you looking for pet friendly student housing in Edwardsville? Please contact us for a tour of our apartments.

Luxury Student Living – Easy Recipes to Make In Your Apartment!

Eating delicious meals is a part of the luxury student living experience – but being a student means that you don’t always have the time to prepare meals. Not with these recipes! The following 3 recipes require simple, affordable ingredients, and take just minutes to make. Try them out in your kitchen today!

Zip Lock Bag Omelet

You won’t need to dirty a pan for this one! Crack 3 eggs into a zip lock bag, add some shredded cheese and chopped veggies. Seal the bag then squeeze to combine ingredients. Place bag in boiling water and cook for 5 to 10 minutes, until eggs are cooked to your liking. Roll the omelet out of the bag onto a plate and dig in! The beauty of this one is that you can have zip lock bags all set up with the eggs and ingredients for a few days at a time. Minimal prep time in the morning!

Ramen Noodles- Italian Style

Give this college student staple a twist! Prepare one package according to the directions. Toss with 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni, 1/4 cup sliced black olives, 1/8 cup chopped onion, and Italian dressing to taste. Buon Appetito!

Chili On the Cheap

Chili is an easy way to fill your belly and warm your soul on a cold, wintery day. Brown 1 pound of ground beef, chicken, or turkey with 1 chopped onion, and a small, chopped green pepper in a large pot with a tablespoon of oil. When the meat is cooked and the onion is soft, drain, and return to the pot. Add a can of diced tomatoes, a can of tomato sauce, and a teaspoon of cumin. Simmer for 1 to 2 hours (perfect time to get some school work done!) then enjoy!

We hope you enjoy these recipes while taking a break from your studies! Please contact us today for more on what we have to offer busy college students!

Catch Movies & Concerts at the Wildey, Near Luxury Student Living

The Wildey Theater is a great community resource in Edwardsville – it is one of the few theaters to present both classic movies and live performances.

It is also a piece of Edwardsville history; built more than 100 years ago, in 1909 as an opera house. The city of Edwardsville extensively renovated and reopened the Wildey in April 2011 as a center of the performing arts, entertainment and movies – so it now features state of the art technical capabilities.

If you love movies, check out the Wildey’s offerings—they’re not only great, they’re easy on the pocketbook. Every Tuesday, the Wildey presents $2 movies, with such films as Shakespeare in Love, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck, and holiday classics like Elf, with Will Ferrell.

As though $2 wasn’t cheap enough, there are also movies that are free! (Local merchants underwrite them for the community). National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and the Harry Potter movies have been featured in this series.

As a holiday treat, the Wildey screens free showings of the classic, White Christmas every year; all movie-goers will receive a free goodie bag with special props to use during the movie. Holiday movie trivia will take place at 6:30 p.m. prior to the evening shows. Plus, there is a sing-along with the great score!

Rick Derringer and Judy Collins are among the performing artists scheduled at the Wildey early in 2016. Local groups will also be on the stage at the winter performance series: Falling Fences (Irish music and Americana), Jake’s Leg (a Grateful Dead tribute band), and Zydeco Crawdaddy’s (Cajun music) will headline.

Be sure to catch a movie or a show in the near future!
